The
country of Panama is located in Central America, bordering
the Caribbean Sea to the North, the Pacific Ocean to the South,
Costa Rica to the West and Columbia to the East. The closest
major U.S. city is Miami, approximately 2 hours via air. Panama
boasts 117 airports, with direct flights to many US cities,
including New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Orlando and
others.
Panama is a just over 30,000 square miles – approximately
the size of South Carolina. The country has over 1,500 miles
of coastline, on the Caribbean, the Gulf of Panama, the North
Pacific Ocean and other smaller bodies of water. Panama boasts
a wide variety of geographical features; from lush tropical
forests, to rugged mountains, to unspoiled beaches and islands – with
world-class national parks highlighting each distinct area.
Visitors and residents will find Panama’s climate to
be pleasant and tropical. Days are typically warm, while nights
are cool. Panama has two seasons: rainy and dry. Severe storms
are relatively rare and there are no major hurricane threats.
